Overview

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is a psychological approach that involves analysing strategies used by successful individuals and applying them to reach a personal goal. It relates thoughts, language, and patterns of behaviour learned through experience to specific outcomes.

NLP asserts that if one person can do something well, it is possible for another to learn it. It teaches people how to model successful performance, giving greater opportunity for reaching chosen goals. It specifically tackles negative habits, and teaches techniques that can be used to reinforce positive results.
NLP helps to develop the ways in which people think, feel and communicate. In simply having more choice, many issues can be overcome.

When to see an NLP practitioner

Reasons may include:

  • Desire for Personal Development (To improve self-awareness and emotional intelligence, and to advance personal skills and communication abilities.)
  • Behavioural Change (For assistance with changing specific behavioural patterns that are unhelpful or destructive, such as smoking, poor diet, or procrastination.)
  • Overcoming Fears and Phobias (NLP techniques can be used to address and mitigate fears and phobias through reprogramming the way a person responds to their triggers.)
  • Improvement in Communication Skills (To learn how to communicate more effectively with others and improve interpersonal skills.
  • Building Confidence: NLP can help individuals to foster self-confidence and self-esteem.)
  • Managing Stress and Anxiety (To learn strategies to cope with and manage stress and anxiety more effectively.)
  • Enhancing Career (For those seeking to improve their work performance or public speaking abilities, or to enhance leadership skills.)
  • Learning New Strategies and Models of Excellence (To emulate the strategies of successful individuals in a particular field and apply them to one’s own life or career.)
  • Coping with Grief and Loss(To find ways of processing and integrating experiences of loss or change.)
  • Resolving Internal Conflicts (NLP can help in aligning internal beliefs and values with external actions and behaviours.)
